Why Acid?
ARTIST STATEMENT
My work explores the connection between human experiences and the cycles of decay and renewal found in nature. Using acid-induced treatments on metals, I reveal their inherent adaptability, transforming rigid materials into intricate textures and patterns. These transformations reflect the delicate balance between fragility and strength in the evolution of identity.
The tactile quality of my pieces is central to their impact, inviting sensory engagement through smooth, cool surfaces and rough, aged textures that tell the story of their metamorphosis. Each artwork encourages viewers to consider how societal, environmental, or personal forces shape their lives, while emphasizing the importance of staying grounded in core values.
My approach examines the complexities of navigating life’s pressures and the resilience required for growth and adaptation. By challenging traditional notions of permanence, I aim to spark reflection and foster dialogue about change as an essential force in life.
Ultimately, my work invites introspection. The materials and processes I use act as metaphors for the human condition, illustrating how we confront challenges, adapt to change, and emerge stronger. Through my art, I seek to foster a shared understanding of resilience and celebrate the beauty found in transformative experiences.
